Floral constituents of the Australian tar tree, Semecarpus australiensis, distributed in Melanesia and Northern Australia, were extracted with solvent, analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The main 16- 18-carbon fatty acids their ethyl esters. Amongst 67 identified compounds, zingerone was detected minute quantity, providing chemical basis for previous observations fruit fly attraction to flowers. present study is first report profile tree
